Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay for this highly imaginative and colourful musical adventure adapted from his own classic children's story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which has a definite dark side lurking just below the ostensibly sunny surface. With Jack Albertson, Peter Ostrum and Roy Kinnear, plus music and lyrics by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.

      Michael Keaton stars as Jack Frost, a rock musician who spends much of his time away from his family. Realising that he has been neglecting his loved ones, Jack decides to miss an important audition and travel home for Christmas, but on the way back he is tragically killed in a car accident. The following year, Jack's son builds a snowman and dresses him in the clothes of his deceased dad, little realising his actions will cause his father to be resurrected in the body of the chilly figure. But their reunion looks to be short-lived as the spring thaw approaches, casting a shadow over their fleeting happiness.
